The Illinois Activity Profesionals Association was founded in 1979 as a not-for-profit organization. IAPA strives to meet the needs and interests of Activity Professionals working within nursing homes, as well as retirement, adult day care services, senior centers, assisted living facilities, hospitals and mental health settings across Illinois. OBJECTIVES: To promote quality of life through excellence in activity interventions. To sponsor, support, and promote appropriate educational experiences. To sponsor the IAPA Convention (held each Fall) and IAPA Awards. To offer and promote IAPA Certification and professional certifications for Activity Professionals and Consultants. To provide a liaison and working relationships with governmental and regulatory agencies and professional organizations regarding the promotion and regulation of activity programming. To promote, support, and connect local regional associations. To act as a forum for Activity Professionals to exchange ideas and information. To provide a quarterly newsletter (Action) to IAPA Members. To provide activity resources to IAPA Members. To promote public awareness of the scope and realm of the Activity Profession. To communicate information, issues, and trends relative to activities to IAPA members.
